Everything you need to know about working with Awesome Apps

Getting Started

App development costs vary based on complexity and approach. Cross-platform apps (React Native/Flutter) start from $10,000, while native apps (Swift/Kotlin) start from $15,000. Mid-range apps with custom features run $20,000-$40,000, and complex enterprise apps can exceed $50,000. We provide detailed quotes after understanding your specific requirements. Check our App Cost Guide for more details.

Typical timelines: Simple apps take 8-12 weeks, standard apps take 12-20 weeks, and complex apps take 20-40 weeks. This includes design, development, testing, and launch. We'll provide a specific timeline during our initial consultation based on your requirements.

It depends on your target audience. In Australia, iOS has about 55% market share among higher-spending users. We recommend starting with one platform to validate your concept, then expanding. Alternatively, cross-platform development (React Native/Flutter) can target both platforms more cost-effectively.

To provide an accurate quote, we need: your app concept and goals, target audience, key features list, any design preferences, timeline expectations, and budget range. The more detail you provide, the more accurate our estimate. We're happy to help you define these during a free consultation.

Development Process

Our process has four phases: 1) Discovery - understanding your business, users, and goals. 2) Design - creating wireframes and visual designs. 3) Development - building your app in iterative sprints with regular demos. 4) Launch - testing, App Store submission, and go-live support.

Yes, absolutely. Upon project completion and final payment, you own 100% of the code, designs, and intellectual property. We'll transfer all source code, design files, and documentation to you. We never retain ownership or licensing rights to client projects.

We recommend weekly check-ins (30-60 minutes) to review progress and provide feedback. More involvement during the design phase helps ensure alignment. That said, we can adapt to your availability—some clients prefer daily updates, others are comfortable with fortnightly reviews.

For iOS: Swift and SwiftUI. For Android: Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. For cross-platform: React Native or Flutter. Backend: Node.js, Python, or Firebase. We choose technologies based on your specific requirements, not just what's trendy.

We provide full UI/UX design services in-house. Our designers create wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypes in Figma. If you already have designs, we can work with those too. Good design is crucial—we don't recommend skipping it.

After Launch

All projects include a warranty period (typically 3-6 months) covering bug fixes. Beyond that, we offer maintenance plans starting at 10-15% of development cost annually, covering OS updates, security patches, minor improvements, and priority support.

We handle the entire submission process for both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This includes preparing screenshots, descriptions, and metadata. We'll guide you through setting up developer accounts if needed (Apple costs $149/year, Google is a one-time $25).

While we focus on development, we can advise on App Store Optimization (ASO) and help integrate analytics tools. For marketing campaigns, we partner with digital marketing agencies and can make introductions. We also build apps with marketing features like push notifications, referral systems, and social sharing.

We design apps with scalability in mind. Adding features later is straightforward—we'll provide a quote based on the new requirements. Many clients engage us on ongoing retainers for continuous improvement. Your codebase is yours, so you could also engage other developers if preferred.

Working With Us

Yes! We're based in Bella Vista, in Sydney's Hills District. We love meeting clients face-to-face for workshops, design reviews, and project kickoffs. We're also happy to come to your office. For ongoing communication, we use video calls and collaboration tools.

We work with both! About 40% of our clients are startups or small businesses launching their first app. We help startups validate ideas, build MVPs, and scale. For startups, we often recommend starting lean and iterating based on user feedback.

We've built apps across many industries: healthcare, fitness, retail, e-commerce, hospitality, logistics, professional services, and more. Check our blog for industry-specific insights. We find that strong development fundamentals transfer across industries.

We typically structure payments in milestones: 30% deposit to commence, 30% at design approval, 30% at development completion, and 10% at launch. For larger projects, we can create more granular milestones. We accept bank transfer, credit card, or PayPal.

Client satisfaction is our priority. Our iterative process with regular check-ins minimizes surprises. If you're unsatisfied at any milestone, we'll work together to address concerns before proceeding. We've never had a project fail to launch due to client dissatisfaction.
